Eating healthy isn’t always the easiest option so we’ve decided to share five of our favorite healthy recipes using avocados. Avocados are considered a staple in the diet of a healthy eater and for good reason. They are filled with nutrients, vitamins, and healthy fats, which increase cardiovascular health. They’re also loaded with potassium, fiber, and antioxidants, which benefit everything from digestion, to skin, to hair and boosts weight loss. Not only are avocados beneficial to one's health, they’re also delicious and easy to incorporate into a wide range of meals. Here are our 5 favorite ways to add avocados into your daily diet.
- Avocado Toast
Avocado toast is one of the healthiest and most delicious ways to start your morning. Toast your favorite bread (we recommend whole wheat) and top it with slices of avocados. Sprinkle it with sea salt, red chili flakes, and olive oil and you’re good to go. Because avocado is full of fiber it will keep you full for longer than other breakfasts options and it will help to fight off cravings during the day.
- Green Avocado Salad
Combine avocados with other green vegetables for a light salad filled with nutrients and antioxidants. Our favorite is this zesty salad which contains thinly sliced cucumbers, mint, avocados, lime juice, kosher salt, olive oil and crushed garlic. This salad is delicious on its own but it also makes the perfect side dish for just about anything. Try pairing it with grilled salmon for a healthy and delicious dinner.
- Avocado Pasta
Who doesn’t crave a freshly made pasta dish every now and then? The carbs may be daunting but you can set off their impact by making this delicious and creamy avocado sauce to go along with it. Combine lemon juice, garlic, basil, olive oil, and the flesh of one avocado in the food processor until it reaches a smooth and creamy consistency. Pour it over your pasta and garnish with parmesan cheese and for a pasta dinner you can feel good about eating.
- Avocado Hummus
Hummus has become an integral part of every healthy eater's diet because of the numerous nutritional benefits it provides. Pulse together one can of chickpeas, the flesh of one of avocado, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 1.5 tablespoons of tahini, lime juice, and salt and pepper to taste. The best part is that this spread can be eaten with almost anything.
- Avocado Smoothie
This recipe proves how diverse avocado really is. Not only can this green fruit be eaten as a savory dish, it’s the perfect base for a number of naturally sweet smoothies as well. Combine the flesh of one avocado, with ½ cup of vanilla yogurt, 1 cup of milk, a few spoonful's of honey and ice cubes in the blender for a delicious and rich smoothie to power you through the day.
